MINISTRIES & GROUPS

Morning Prayer, visits to patients in the hospital, Sunday School, and church outreach are performed by members of the congregation.

Started in 1989, morning prayer was one of the church's first outreach ministries. It is provided Monday through Friday and is available via Zoom to increase the number of people reached.

(WOW) is a ministry of Christ Church. Many who have joined the church first experienced Christ Church at Lake Blackshear. Each summer for the last 20 years, Christ Church held (WOW) from the last weekend in May through the last Sunday in July. People come in boats and jet skis, as well as on foot from the campgrounds. The Blessing of the Boats is done on the first Sunday of WOW. A coffee hour follows each service. Church members are responsible for all aspects of WOW except the Priest’s Duties.

The church holds a food pantry once a month and serves, on average, 50 families.  Each family receives 14 items, including protein, fruits, and vegetables.  Additionally, the church provides approximately 60 families with food for a complete Thanksgiving meal.

STEPP was created to support the well-being of caregivers. It is an outreach ministry created in 2019, offering a support community for anyone experiencing the challenges of providing care for a family member or friend who is facing short or long-term health issues. STEPP offers spiritual and emotional encouragement to renew the caregiver’s spirit and energy through conversation, fellowship, and prayer, so that they can take care of their own health as well as someone else’s. The group meets weekly in the parish hall.

Each year, the Church provides scholarships through the Reddick/ Roche Memorial Scholarship Fund. From 2006 through 2025, the church has awarded approximately 80 scholarships to graduating seniors, totaling more than $80,000.

This endowment fund was valued at approximately $245 thousand at the end of the first quarter in 2025. An Endowment Committee manages the funds and their distribution. A percentage of the fund may be used annually and has typically been used to help organizations in the community. Past recipients include the local school system and the Gateway Center, which helps abused children in the community. Funds have also been provided for clothes, food, and shelter for people in need.  Lastly, funds are provided to provide Christmas toys for children in need in the community. Legacy funds can be used for education, worship, outreach, and property maintenance, according to the fund documents.
